Entry #1

Dates: 6/13/17 - 8/1/17
Activities: Starting up business media sites and plans for expansion
Technical Information: Weebly, Blue Host,  Facebook, Instagram
Reflection: The first few days of my internship were very slow, and filled with a lot more discussion rather than doing. Be Industries isn't really where I work. Be Industries is the name for the businesses that my supervisor partners in. My supervisor (Brandy)  actually prefers to call it Be Collective than Be Industries. Brandy hired me because she doesn't like to use technology at all, but she knows she needs it to expand her business.

My first week was spent meeting up with her and discussing what she is looking for on a website, or other social media sites. I quickly learned that I would be learning how to do this job all on my own, and that I am given a lot of room to add my opinions. Once we discussed what Brandy was looking for, we got started setting up domain names for the sites, and creating social media accounts for the businesses. We used Blue Host to create the domain name, and Weebly to design and put content on the site, and created Facebook and Instagram accounts

The purpose of Be Collective isn't one single idea, it is a collective group of multiple businesses that make Brandy the kind of person she is. One of them is Be Salon, that is her hair styling business, and how I met her. Another is Be Yoga, a yoga studio her and her partner just invested in. It currently is still being built and hopefully will open in the fall. Also, she has created The Be Box, which is a small box of "goodies" that Brandy has enjoyed and wants to share with others. Brandy labels her businesses as self care and help, but the most important purpose of Be Collective is for Brandy to share what she loves with others.
