Technical Information: Weebly, Facebook, Instagram, MailChimp, PayPal, Photoshop
Reflection: Brandy contacted me and told me she had a lot of content she wants to get up on the site, and some other things she needs to get done in a few weeks, and thought it would be best to meet up at her studio and discuss what needs to get posted. She told me that she wants her posts to Facebook to be reaching more people, and asked me if I had any ideas on how to do that. I told her that making sure that we post to Facebook as often as we can will keep the business on the more recent feed and give us the best option of more people seeing it. With that in mind, she then told me she would be sending me tons of pictures to post and should be for the next few weeks as she starts to prepare the Be Box.

Next thing on the list was that she had many people say they would buy a Be Box, but she didn't have a way to track who bought anything, let alone no one had actually paid for a box. She wanted a way to allow people to pay for the box, and to start getting the orders lined up. Brandy asked me if I knew how to set up a shop online, being honest I told her no, but I was willing to look around and see what I could do. Turns out, Facebook pages have an option for you to create an online shop through Facebook, so if a customer was to find our Facebook and want to buy the product, they could right there. Same thing on Weebly, although she had me set up a PayPal account for all the transactions to go through, and Weebly doesn't offer that type of  charge.

Brandy also wanted a way to capture peoples emails, so that she could send them newsletters or flyers for sales or other upcoming events. Her and her partner decided that they would use MailChimp to manage their list of captured emails, so I created a MailChimp account, and started to make a subscription pop-up. When I was done creating the pop-up I copied its HTML and embedded it into the homepage of the website, so it is the first thing you see. I also used Photoshop for a little bit, to add the list of items in the Be Box to a picture, that would later be used as one of the pictures for the product.

My class room experiences prepared me some for this internship. They prepared for me to collaborate with others, how set up a website, without it looking to crazy, and to be flexible. If there was one thing I wish I had learned prior to the internship was how to set up an online store, and track purchases made from it. I think this would have helped me when trying to connect the two different sites that you can purchase products from, and make it easier to track orders.
